New Instructor Categories
The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) has approved additional Bleeding Control Course instructor categories. The expanded list of approved professions is based on feedback and new instructor inquiries. The professions listed in BOLD have been added to the list of individuals who are approved to teach the Bleeding Control Basic Course:
- Certified Athletic Trainer
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
- Dentist
- Emergency Medical Responder
- Emergency Medical Technician
- Licensed Practical Nurse
- Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Nurse Practitioner
- Occupational Therapist
- Pharmacist
- Physical Therapist
- Physician/Surgeon
- Physician Assistant
- Registered Dietitian
- Registered Nurse
- Respiratory Therapist
- Ski Patrol
- Sworn Law Enforcement Officer
- Veterinarian
National Stop the Bleed Month
Are You Ready?
This is a great time to make sure you are prepared for this public outreach and awareness month. Do you have enough kits? Do you need to replace items in your kit? Do you need to download or order booklets? Make sure you confirm locations for several events in your area, and enter those classes in the portal so they show up on our public class calendar. Take time now to prepare for May. It’s going to be EPIC!
